... In 1978 when I was working on a volunteer project in Pintung Hsien, Taiwan; very often after dinner in the evening, my American friends would be reading Times magazine with seeming concentration. It imprinted in me a message that there must be something very interesting in it. In 1984 I was recruited as a manager of Mars Inc. in Taiwan. I was motivated to read Times continuously for about 10 years. The persistent READING habit has changed my life by expanding my viewpoint regarding the living condition in remote villages of less developed Hsien, like Pintung, in Taiwan ...
