It was such an unusual opportunity to re-live the past that was so important to me, and to think of being at Tung Hai for the whole academic year. I have had other wonderful musical experiences in my life. But NONE has compared to my years at Tung Hai, 1963-1974. The continuing of relationships formed so many years ago through reunions, e mails, visits, is a source of great joy to me. Our workshops and tours were special times when we could be together for an extended time. I looked forward to those, for we were able to progress and accomplish so much. We went from Gregorian Chant, through a Bach Motet (in German!), through a portion of Handel's "Messiah" and Mendelssohn's "Elijah", the Faure "Requiem", "O Magnum Mysterium" and "Alleluia". Then there were some fun songs: "Younger Generation", "Snake Baked a Hoecake", The "Prune" (both of them being sung by the Luce Choir at present). There were also lovely Taiwanese and Chinese folk songs. And we always ended with "The Lord Bless You and Keep You." The reunions we've shared continue to be such a moving time in my life. I'm so thankful to know each of you for my life has been so rich in ways I could never have imagined. My family's whole life has been shaped by our years in Taiwan. Experiences such as our choir performances, Christmas Eve programs and, of course, "Amahl" are still with us in everyday conversations. My own experiences in Taiwan influenced greatly my professional musical life. My inspiration for directing choral music and teaching voice came from the years of being with and working with you folks, who were so accepting of my attempts to make good music. And still today, music holds us together.

And so it is with deep gratitude that I write to you these reflections of our 2012 Reunion. My prayer for you remains that The Lord "will bless you and keep you" in His everlasting LOVE.

親愛的東海親朋好友們，大家好!

半世紀以來，東海校園始終有著一首歌，時而激昂清晰，時而消沈走音，但他總在大肚山上迴盪。

穿越夢谷，飄過藝術中心，流盪於文理大道，跳躍在宗教中心，從宿舍小徑、體育館、銘賢堂、......走過南北旅行演唱，一直到路思義教堂。半世紀傳承下來的，已經分不清是豆芽菜、休止符、延長記號，或是人與人之間那些訴不盡的綿綿長長。

去年，我們下定決心，開始歌唱。因為我們相信音樂有一種力量，雖然時代環境與校內校外的生態早已經不同於以往，但我們相信，過去只有 800 位聽眾，但現在有 18000 雙耳朵，正等待聆聽我們繼續創造東海的歌聲，悠揚。

五月廿八日，週二晚上七點，在路思義教堂，路思義合唱家邀請您穿越半世紀，與您的青春再次相逢。
